Why Product Images Need Deliberate Crop Rules
Consistent aspect ratios help a catalogue feel calm, but the crop still needs to respect what matters inside each image.
Using one aspect ratio across product cards makes a catalogue cleaner, but `object-fit: cover` is not a complete image strategy.
The important part of a product image can sit near the top, bottom or edge. A fixed center crop can remove exactly the detail the customer needs to see.
For important catalogues, I prefer a consistent card ratio plus a per-image focal position when necessary. That keeps the grid disciplined without treating every photograph as if it were composed the same way.
